Techfest Mumbai

Recently the Zone group was represented at
the Mumbai IT Fest, this report is from Bhupesh Patel, the Zone EU
representative on site to assist the local distributors. The festival
ran 22nd - 24th January 2010
The Mumbai IT fest was
a University festival/trade show (mainly the festival) they
had an arena built with posts as bamboo sticks holding the whole
structure,
covered first with tarpaulin sheets with additional enclosing white
sheets on the outside. The
arena had simple basic walls for playing around with a few oil drums as
obstacles. They also had the full UV lights with artwork done by some
students
there, also there was music system linked to the PC so that
announcements could
be heard whilst playing and after (players scores). For the Scoreboard
we used a DVI cable to a TV and it worked fine.
We
played games from 10am to 5pm for the people at the festival and some
business
people.
Then
games stopped at 5pm, then from 5 pm till 8pm was for business people,
family
and friends.
The packs were then on charge till 9pmish.
Then
games started again from 10pm till 12am. We then charged the packs
until morning time.
The
game consists of 12 players of 8 mins game standard team game, the
packs never
sat on the pack racks we were so overwhelmed. The equipment was used
every minute there was never a spare pack and there was always a line.
On
the last day in the night games were changed to 4-6mins to try to get
through the remaining prospective players because of the overwelming
desire for attendees to play.
Also
they had a night vision live action camera inside the arena and a large
42in TV
outside, so that people could see what was happening inside the arena.
For
me I was impressed with the durability of the equipment and software.
Everything went really
smoothly.
Here’s
some pics and video I took (it’s not a brilliant pic/video, but they
have some
professional camera guys there so i'll try to post better video soon)
We played 231 games in three days with a
few testing before the start of the festival and each morning.
I
must say I really like the RIFT-Blaster system as it is really simple.
